Georgia: Training the social entrepreneurs of today
Critical thinking, innovative design and the ability to solve problems on an ad-hoc basis: skills that come with social entrepreneurship and are being more and more valued throughout society. This March, Levan Gorgadze and Giorgi Azariashvili gave a training about social entrepreneurship in Poland for a long term project called One Step Ahead. The overall aim of the project is to increase the professional capacities of NGO’s and young people, by giving them access to educational tools and methodological approaches. By giving access to tools and academic insights, youths and NGO’s are supported in their development and more able to contribute to the sustainable development of their local communities.
Project Brief
One Step Ahead is an ongoing project that’s taking place in multiple countries: Sweden, Georgia, Poland and Moldova. One Step Ahead kicked-off in Poland and Levan and Giorgi were invited to start the program with a training about social entrepreneurship. Being linked to the local community and helping to improve the lives of the people within the community are not a common objectives for every business. But that’s not the case when it’s up to social entrepreneurs! Levan and Giorgi gave the training from the 7th until the 15th of March and they based their training on social entrepreneurship on their own experiences. The training was about what it means to be a social entrepreneur, what kind of benefits it can bring to the local communities and how to start one.
Project Outcome
The six day training generated four concrete ideas for social enterprises:
- An innovative language school in Georgia.
- A slow-fashion company in Moldova.
- A social integration center in Sweden.
- A social cafe in a small town of Poland.

Contribute to the sustainable development of the local communities in which the youths and NGO’s operate.
